Learning Outcomes Students completing this course will:
- Apply elements of art and principles of design to three-dimensional design projects.
- Demonstrate different modes of creativity through material, form, technique and display location.
- Create effective technical drawings with measurements accurate to within 1/16”.
- Effectively use research to expand idea generation.
- Apply a comprehensive approach using Design Thinking to the design process.
- Demonstrate understanding of the object/body in space.

- Sketchbook drawing
- In-class tool training for safety and proficiency
- Small in-class projects to build familiarity of new processes
- Multi-week projects applying learned processes working both in and outside of class time.

Assessments
- Each of the three major projects will be individually graded.
- The semester-long sketchbook assignment will be graded weekly
Grading guidelines
- A minimum of 70% of this course’s grade should be in-class design projects with some variation allowed in terms of weight for sketchbook and critiques.
